Dr. Nitin Shah
Dr. Nitin Shah is currently working as a Professor of Pediatrics (DNB) and Consultant Pediatrician at PD Hinduja National Hospital in Mumbai, as well as a Professor of Pediatric Hematology Oncology (FNB) and Honorary Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist at BJ Wadia Hospital for Children in Mumbai, India. He is a Fellow of the Indian Society of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine and was awarded the IAP Trainee Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology Oncology in past. He has been recently elected as the Chairperson of the IAP Pediatric Hematology Oncology Chapter for 2015.
He is the current Executive Director of the Influenza Foundation of India, and the member from India to Asian Strategic Alliance for Pneumococcal disease prevention (ASAP) and the current Chair of Asian Strategic Alliance for Pneumococcal disease prevention India Chapter (ASAP-India). He was also the scientific adviser to the Indian Academy of Pediatrics committee on Immunization for 2011-2012 and was the convener of the IAP Central Scientific Committee for PEDICON 2014, Indore, the annual conference of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Shah has had a very active position within the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, being the president of IAP in 2006, and acting as Co-chair for the IAP Committee on Immunization 2006, Chair of IAP Polio Eradication Committee 2006 and Chair for the IAP Committees on Child Survival in 2006, and Chair of IAP Immunization Updates 2006. He has edited numerous Specialty Series Books for the IAP, the IAP Textbook of Pediatrics, IAP Immunization Guidebook, booklets on various vaccines and a book on Immunization in Clinical Practice, besides being one of the editors for IAP book on Vaccines and Immunization 2013. He was the Organizing Chair for the IAP National Conference 2007, and the Organizing Secretary of the IAP National Conference in 2003. He has conducted numerous Immunization sessions at various National and International conferences, including the famous Immunization Dialogues at the PEDICON for several years. In 2006, as the IAP President, he was an invited member for the Indian Expert Advisory Group (IEAG) on Polio and also an invited member of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI).
Dr. Shah has conducted various vaccine research studies, including studies for DTPa (Safety study), Hepatitis A (Seroprevalence study), Varicella (Seroprevalence study), Rabies (Pre-exposure immunogenicity and safety study), DTP-Hib combination vaccine (Safety and Immunogenicity study), DTP-HB combination study (Post-marketing safety study), Live Hepatitis A vaccine (Safety and Immunogenicity study), HPV vaccine (Seroconversion and safety), Rota vaccine (Safety and Immunogenicity), HPV vaccine (Phase 3 immunogenicity study) and Varicella Vaccine (phase III safety and immunology study)
With special expertise in pediatric hematology and infectious disease prevention and treatment, Dr. Shah has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and presented more than 50 scientific papers at various national and international conferences. He is also the editor of the journals Pediatrics Today and Pediatric Clinics of India and section editor of Immunization section for IAP Infectious disease chapter journal Pediatric Infectious Diseases. In addition, he has appeared on television and been interviewed by radio outlets, as well as newspapers and magazines, to share information about vaccines and children’s health. He has been faculty in over 600 scientific meetings besides delivering some prestigious orations.
Dr. Ashok Dutta
Dr Ashok Kumar Dutta is presently working as Professor of Pediatrics at School of Medical Sciences and Research, Sharda University, Greater Noida after retiring as Director Professor and Head of Department of Pediatrics and Vice Principal at Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital, Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi. He has graduated from Assam Medical College ,Dibrugarh in 1969 and thereafter did his post-graduation (MD in Pediatrics) from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. In addition he has done certificate course on Nutrition from National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad. He has undergone training fellowship in Japan on reduction of infant mortality. He has been honoured with Fellow of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (FIAP) and Fellow of National Neonatology Forum of India for his contribution in development of Pediatrics and Neonatology in the country. He was past president of National Neonatology Forum of India and also past president of Delhi branch of Indian Academy of Pediatrics. Dr Dutta has over 40 years of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students (MBBS and MD) and has more than 160 publications IN National and International journals and edited several books and contributed chapters in books. Dr Dutta has been awarded several orations and awards for his scientific contributions notable among them are NNF oration award, Dr KC Choudhury oration, Dr PN Taneja oration, Dr Khandpur oration, Dr Gaya Prasad oration and many more. He is an adviser of Child health, Govt of India. He has been a member of Indo-US research group on infectious diseases and ICMR task force on MCH. Dr Dutta has been a WHO and UNICEF consultant from time to time on various programs on child health e.g diarrhoea disease, ARI, HIV, IMNCI etc. Dr Dutta has been a visiting professor at Nepal and also postgraduate examiner at various institutions in India and also in Bangladesh and Nepal. Dr Dutta has special interest in infectious disease and has contributed several research publications this field including several vaccine trials in the country. He has been a member of National technical advisory group on immunisation in India ( NTAGI), He is presently a member of the Indian expert group on polio eradication.Dr Dutta has also been awarded as best teacher by Indian Medical Association. Taking Dr Dutta's overall contribution in the field of Pediatrics, he has been awarded outstanding Asian Pediatrician’s of the year 2012 by Asian pediatric association.
